Executing Workflows
If you go to the Workflows page, you will see the Workflows list in the left panel.
By default, all workflows, both public and your own, are given in one big list. Make sure to sign in to see your workflows.
To execute a workflow:
- Click the Workflows tab. In the left panel, in the Workflows list, select the name of the workflow you want to run. The workflow graph and its control buttons will open in the right panel.
The nodes in the workflow graph represent workflow steps and are labeled
with numbers corresponding to the numbered workflow steps in the left panel.
- In the title of the workflow panel, click the Start button to the right of the workflow's name. The workflow begins to run.
As a workflow runs, you'll see several things:
- The Start button becomes disabled.
- Running workflow steps are shown blue.
- If a workflow step produces an error, its color changes to pink. The workflow then
stops running.
- Once a workflow step executes successfully, its color turns green and the next step
in the workflow runs.
- After the workflow has run, in the title of the workflow panel, you will see (complete) appear to the right of the workflow's name. To see a report of the workflow, click the Provenance button beneath the workflow graph.
Other important information
- All workflows have a description that provides an overview of the workflow.
To view the description, click the Details button at the bottom of the workflow panel.
A short description, including the creation date appears.
- You can also run each step within the workflow individually. To do so,
expand the workflow by clicking the plus sign to the left of the workflow name
in the left panel. You will see all of the steps included in that workflow.
Click the name of the step you want to run. A Step Information form opens in the right panel. Click the Execute button. The step will begin to run.
- Once all of the steps in the workflow have finished executing, you can quickly view
individual step results by clicking on the step in the workflow panel and selecting
More Info... This option works for tool steps only.
- Once all of the steps in the workflow have completed, you can view detailed results by clicking the Provenance button located beneath the workflow
graph. A workflow provenance report will open.
